Carl L. Christie, Jr., age 89, of Grand Rapids, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, February 20, 2021. Carl was greeted with open arms in heaven by his wife, Ginger Christie, and his daughter, Deb Higbee. Carl honorably served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He went on to work as a machinist at Blackmer Pump, retiring after more than 30 years of service. An avid outdoorsman, Carl enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and golfing. He loved his family and was especially fond of his great grandchildren. He will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Dan (Pam) Christie, Bob Christie, and Scott Christie; his son-in-law, Tom Higbee; his grandchildren, Tom (Julie) Higbee, Scott (Becky) Higbee, Brett (Mary) Christie, Melissa (Bill) Wiseman, Kaleigh (Chris) Saucier, Ginger Christie, Amy Christie, Sarah Christie, and Ryan Christie; 17 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 6 - 8 PM on Tuesday, February 23, at Stroo Funeral Home (please wear a face mask and practice social distancing guidelines). Due to current restrictions, the funeral service will be held privately on Wednesday. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Interim Hospice or The Wounded Warrior Project.
