Irene D. Strom, aged 63, of Grand Rapids, was called to her heavenly home on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, and is now reunited with her mother, Maria Davis. Irene worked for 42 years at the Catholic Information Center. She enjoyed planning beautiful parties and family events, decorating, painting, and crafts. Her love for animals was well known, especially her puppies. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother; who will be deeply missed by her husband of 40 years, Richard; daughter, Rachel (Andrew) Kammer; granddaughter, Ava Marie; father, Edward C. Davis; brother, Kurt Davis; sisters-in-law, Martha (Richard) Tillstrom, Helen (Mark) Post, Linda Strom; and many cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Andrew, 215 Sheldon Ave. SE, at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Irene may be made to the Humane Society of West Michigan or the American Heart Association.

Dear Rich and Rachel. Irene WAS the Catholic Information Center. She made it run smoothly. Irene had the gift of hospitality. She was one of our favorite people. We are deeply sorry for the deep loss you are experiencing. Cherish the many wonderful memories you both have. No one can take them from you.

I was blessed to know Irene for many years.
In 1989 I asked her to read one of the Prayers of the Faithful at Bishop Rose's Installation in German.
Irene was devoted to her service at the CIC and gracious to everyone. God grant her eternal rest and peace.

I will miss Irene's gentle presence at the Catholic Information Center. Soon after I began working for FAITH Grand Rapids, I interviewed Irene for an article and committed the cardinal journalistic sin of misspelling her name ("Storm" instead of "Strom"). I felt terrible and she was so kind and gracious about it! Prayers to your family during this time of loss.

I knew Irene from the Catholic Information Center when we were on Ionia. Her delightful laugh, her fun personality, her fantastic organizational skill, and most of all her great kindness will be missed by all who knew her. Rich and Rachel I am so very sorry for your loss. Irene was a very special person with her immediate and extended family including her dogs, her friends, and everyone whom she worked with.
We all have cherished memories of her.
