Marion L. Eighmey, 84, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus early Saturday morning, December 26.  Born to Charles and Rena Gauntt (nee Swinney) in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on September 6, 1936, Marion was preceded in death by her parents, all five of her siblings, her son-in-law Mark, and her husband of 55 years, Roy.  She is survived by her children, David (Joanne) Eighmey, Laura (Mike) Majerczak, Ray (Evelyn) Eighmey, and Dee Gant; grandchildren Shannon (Ethan) Culp; Camden Majerczak; Josephine, Micah, JoyAnna, and Michelle Eighmey; great-granddaughter Sadie Culp, and many nieces and nephews.

Dedicated to a life of caregiving, Marion began her healthcare career in the newborn nursery at Blodgett Memorial Hospital in 1954 and retired from Beacon Hill at Eastgate as a certified nursing assistant in 2002 after 26 years of caring for the elderly.  Whether on the job or volunteering, Marion viewed the purpose of her life as ministry. In addition to working, she had served at Crossroads Prison Ministry and also earned her ten-gallon pin for donating blood through the Michigan Blood program. A member of Heritage Baptist Church for nearly 40 years, Marion faithfully supported the ministry through prayer, encouragement, and “hugs to share.”

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, January 30, at 11am at Heritage Baptist Church, 1570 60^th St SE, Kentwood, Michigan. The family will receive visitors on Friday evening, January 29, from 6:00-9:00pm at Heritage.   

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heritage Baptist Church and designated for Anna Sytsma of Child Evangelism Fellowship.
