Dorinda (Schorey) DeCommer, age 76, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2020, and went to be with her Lord. Dorinda was born to Orville and Marjorie Schorey on July 18, 1944 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and relocated to Grand Rapids, Michigan as a young girl. She worked for Michigan Bell as a switch operator for many years. Although Dorinda's life was one of struggle, she was very proud of and thankful for her family, including her children, Terri (Brandon) Van Ess and Joseph (Constance) DeCommer, and her granddaughter, Melinda Van Ess. Dorinda's family will greet visitors on Tuesday, November 17, from 5 - 8 PM at Stroo Funeral Home. Interment will take place in Hooker Cemetery, Leighton Twp., Michigan. Contributions in memory of Dorinda may be made to NAMI Michigan (National Alliance on Mental Illness), 401 S. Washington Square, Suite 104, Lansing, MI 48933.
