 Carole A. Restaino (Rolfe, Shanahan, VanDyke), aged 85, of Byron Center, was called home by her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, November 11, 2020. Carole was a nurse's aide for many years and enjoyed helping others whenever she could. Her husbands, Richard Shanahan, LeRoy VanDyke, Pasquale Restaino; parents, George and Elsie (Schwartz) Rolfe; sister, Marjorie; and brothers, Jimmy, George Jr., and Bill, preceded her in death. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Richard (Cheryl) Shanahan, Kathleen (Philip) Richards, Colleen Shanahan, Ronald (Sandy) Shanahan; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Barb Rolfe, Pam Manus, Janie Rolfe; and many nieces and nephews. Carole will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Thank you to the staff of Brookcrest and Emmanuel Hospice for the loving care they provided to Carole. The family will greet visitors on Sunday, November 29, from 1 to 3 pm at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th Street, SE, where a service to celebrate her life will begin at 3:00 pm. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Contributions in memory of Carole may be made to Emmanuel Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association.

Rick, Cheryl, Kathy, Phil, Colleen, Ron, and Sandy: Carole was a very special person. Our talks & visits were instrumental in adapting to married life. Carole was so patient and kind. Even though I hadn’t seen her in years, I always knew she was my friend.

Carole was a very loving and generous sister in law. She will be missed by her loved ones. I truly want to be there for her service, however with Covid19, was discouraged to do so. My sincere condolences to the family. Her brother Bill and my dear husband preceded her 3 months ago. All the brothers and sisters are together now rejoicing in heaven. May God comfort and give peace to those who are grieving this loss.
