Mrs. Eleanor M. Ballard, age 98, joined her Savior in his heavenly home on Saturday, October 17, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garth H. Ballard, and her daughter, Linda Pellow. Surviving are her daughter, Jeanne Durnell; her grandchildren, David Jordan, Jason Jordan, Jeanne Nelson, and Dennis Nelson; her great grandchildren, Keelan, Kyle, Kierstin Jordan; Alydia, Jason Jr., Jakeb Jordan; Cami Janes, Miley and Peyton Thacker; Adalynn Nelson; and Ceara Bell. Eleanor dearly loved her family. She was a graduate of South High School. After marrying Garth, she volunteered at the University Hospital in Ann Arbor when Garth worked at the Bomber Plant during World War II. A longtime member of South United Methodist Church, she taught Sunday School and volunteered for church functions. She loved music, enjoyed singing and playing Church hymns on the organ. She was also a member of the Grand Rapids Antique Club and hosted an American Motorcycle Association reunion every year. Eleanor was involved in Kelloggsville East Elementary School, where she was active in the Parent/Teacher Group and served as a substitute teacher several times. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24, from 9:30 - 11:00 AM at Stroo Funeral Home, where the funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM Saturday. Pastor Mack Strange will be officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to South United Methodist Church or Interim Hospice.
