On Sunday, June 14, 2020, Wesley Harold Kraft, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away and went home to be with his Lord.  Wesley was born on March 24, 1949 in Appleton, Wisconsin to Harold and Gloria (Cavil) Kraft. In 1968 Wesley enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of nineteen. He went to electronics school learning the weapons control systems of the F-4 Phantom. He was honorably discharged as Staff Sergeant after serving his country for six years. Wesley then began a new career with the Federal Aviation Administration and served for over forty years as an Aviation Safety Inspector, retiring from the FAA in 2010. Wesley married the love of his life, Ursula, On July 13, 1976. They raised one daughter together, Christiene. Wesley had a passion for photography, airplanes, and family. His greatest passion, however, was serving his God with hands and feet. This was lived out in a number of settings, but primarily through his service at Buist Community Assistance Center where he was admired as a friend, servant, and mentor to many. Wesley was known for his love of truth, his love for others, and his kind and compassionate spirit. He served powerfully and quietly, planting seeds of grace that will bear fruit for generations. Wesley was preceded in death by his father, Harold. He is survived by his wife, Ursula; his daughter, Christiene; his mother, Gloria; sister, Lesley; and brother Warren. Wesley is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and two grandchildren, Jordan and Gabriele. The immediate family will honor his life with a graveside service on Wednesday, June 17, 2020. Donations in his honor may be made online at Buist Community Assistance Center (www.buistcac.org/donation/) or by mail to Buist CAC, 8306 Byron Center Avenue SW, Byron Center, Michigan 49315. A celebration of life with community, family, and friends will be planned for September 2020.

A man of the highest character and integrity, a genuine concern for all, both FAA colleagues and aviation industry folks he oversaw. It was my great fortune and blessing not only to have known Wes Kraft, but moreover to have had him as a mentor when I came into the FAA. I've always said, and still hold, that I hope to be half the man and ASI that Wes was and always will be in our hearts. This one hurts. Godspeed to all in Wes' circle - you too have been blessed to have him in your lives.

God puts people in your journey though life that or good and bad. Wes was one of the good ones in my life. Only knowing Wes a short time at Buist Community and taking traps to Kentucky made that trap such a blessing. I'm looking forward to seeing him again in glory. My prayers and sympathy to the family.

So sorry to hear of the loss of Wes. Being in the aerospace industry, I had the honor and pleasure of having Wes as my first FAA principal inspector. His consistent integrity and commitment to doing things right earned the respect of all. He was a mentor and friend and will be greatly missed. My profound condolences to his family.

Ursula,

We were deeply saddened by the news of Wes's passing. Wes was a kind and caring soul, and a great neighbor to us. We missed you both when you left the Jewelbrooke neighborhood. May God bless you and your family during this time and always.
