DeVries, Vera Mae (Cooper) passed peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 3, 2020. She was also welcomed to Heaven by her beloved first husband of 42 years, Randy Cooper; parents, Art and Agnes Ensing, to whom she was born on November 20, 1926; two brothers, Ray and Ken Ensing; dear friend, Norma DeVries; and stepson, Bill DeVries. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her dearly loved family: her husband of 29 years, Nels; children, Scott and Cathy Cooper of Virginia Beach, VA, Jim and Mikki Cooper of Grand Rapids, Betsy and Chuck Rosema of Huntsville, AL, Dan and Rhonda Cooper of Grand Rapids, and Ken and Wendy Cooper of Loveland, CO; step-children, Jean and Ron Duthler of Holland, Tom and Yvonne DeVries, Julie DeVries, and Helen and Pete Flikweert; grandchildren, Mary Margaret and Jason Slaughter, Sarah and Sean McGrath, Annah Cooper, Rebecca Cooper, Emily and Kody Mason, Nate Cooper, Esther and Ben Riggs, Sharon and Nate Kluiter; Mark and Natalie Cooper; Cathy Rosema, Cari and Chad Haan, Chris and Jacky Rosema; Brian and Sarah Cooper, Tom and Lauren Cooper, Susie and Joe Robert, Steve Cooper, Kate Cooper, John Cooper, Danny Cooper, Liz Cooper; Ashley and John Boyne, Jay Cooper, and Trent and Allison Cooper; step-grandchildren, Jeff and Dawn Duthler, Laura and Bill Evans, Nicole and Chad Afman; Justin and Tanya DeVries-Kenderes, Jessica DeVries, Mary and Jordan Carr-DeVries, Dan and Betsy DeVries; Kristen DeVries, Rebekah DeVries, Laura and Jeff Sneller, Sandi and Bill Harms; Joseph Flikweert, Niecia Flikweert; and 55 great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn and Duke Bazuin, sisters-in-law, Doreen Ensing, Lois (Art) Wagner, Betty Cooper, Shirley Cooper, Barbara Zydowic, and Joyce DeVries; brother-in-law Gary and Connie DeHaan; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Vera lived her life sacrificially for her Lord and her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She served faithfully in her various churches, always singing praises to God in the choir. With both Randy and Nels she volunteered with dedication each summer for several decades at Upper Peninsula Bible Camp and in later years at the Christian Reformed Conference Grounds. A private family burial will take place with a Celebration of Her Life service to follow at a later date when travel and gathering restrictions have been lifted.
