Charlotte A. Terpsma (Oppenhuizen), age 67, of Kentwood, went home to be with her Lord on her birthday, Saturday, March 21, 2020. Born in Grand Rapids in 1953, Char attended Grand Rapids Central Christian High School. She enjoyed singing, gardening, and bicycling-holding a record (1990) for the 24-hour challenge. She really loved spending time with her family and had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren. Char worked as a Credit Administrator at Pleune Service Company where she was employed for the past 15 years. She was the president of the National Association of Women in Construction from 2012-2014. Char will be lovingly remembered by her children, Michelle Wright, Rachel and Tony Thampan, Jeremy and Melissa Terpsma, and Elizabeth and Ted Mosies; her five grandchildren, Gabriela, Caleb, and Anna Thampan, Jeremy Terpsma Jr., and Samantha Mosies. She will be greatly missed by her former husband, David Terpsma; her brothers, Don and Shirley Oppenhuizen, Roger and Lois Oppenhuizen; her sisters, Marie and Tom Rogers, Karen and Sonny Garber; former sister-in-law, Sally Terpsma; former brother-in-law, Dan Terpsma, former mother-in-law, Mary Terpsma, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. Char was predeceased by her parents, Engelus (Oppie) and Gladys Oppenhuizen, former father-in-law, Peter Terpsma, and former brother-in-law, Peter Terpsma. A Celebration of Char’s life will be held 1 pm on Saturday, September 19, at Rosedale Memorial Park (50 Lake Michigan Drive, Grand Rapids) with Rev. Calvin VanderMeyden officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
