Visitation:  Friday from 5 - 8pm at Stroo Funeral Home
Service: 11 am Saturday, January 18, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 3334 Breton Rd. SE Grand Rapids, MI 49512

 Hayes Cargill, Jr., age 93, of Caledonia, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, January 12, 2020.  Hayes proudly served his country in the Army during WWII. He  worked as an agent for State Farm Insurance for 33 years, and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. He was a professional umpire for 33 years and a member of the Golden K Kiwanis and the Michigan Sports Sages. He was preceded in death by his son, Steven; sisters, Dorothy Stiehl, Ruth Potapa, Anna (Lester) Pierson; his in laws, Charles (Dorothy) Stiehl, Gladys (Harold) Krebs, Keith Blough, Theresa (Charles) Posthumus, Lola (Earl) Posthumus, John (Donna) Johnson, Dolores Posthumus. Hayes will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Marjorie "Peggy"; children, Barry (Karen) Cargill, Mark (Marcia) Cargill, Bruce (Georgeanne) Cargill, Jeff (Terri) Cargill, Lori (Gerald) McCarthy; daughter-in-law, Sandy Cargill; 13 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; in laws, Gerald Posthumus, Frances Blough; nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 17 from 5 - 8 pm at Stroo Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11 am Saturday, January 18, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 3334 Breton Rd. SE with Rev. Virginia Heller officiating. Interment will be on Bowne Center Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be  made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church or Kindred Hospice.

Our prayers are with you during this sad time. Mr. Cargill was a wonderful, lifelong friend of my father. I’m confident they are already reminiscing and sharing stories they both know by heart.
