William H. Fitzsimmons, aged 93, of Caledonia, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 16, 2019. Bill was the former Chief Deputy County Clerk for Kent County. He had worked for Kent County since October 27, 1947. He became Chief Deputy on January 1, 1959. Bill was made Election Supervisor for the county on January 1, 1973 in addition to being Chief Deputy. He relinquished being Election Supervisor on January 6, 1986. He worked under five County Clerks and was Chief Deputy under four of them. He was a lifelong member of Alaska Baptist Church. He will be remembered for his positive attitude, quick wit, and friendly spirit. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Eethel Fitzsimmons; brother, James; sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Peter Baker. He will be lovingly remembered by his brothers, Jack (Margaret) Fitzsimmons, Kenneth (Cheryl) Fitzsimmons; sister-in-law, Nancy Fitzsimmons; many nieces, nephews, and several special friends. The family wishes to thank the staff of Legacies Assisted Living and Kindred Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Bill. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, November 21, at Alaska Baptist Church, 7240 68th Street, SE with Rev. Brian Harrison officiating. Interment in Alaska Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Bill may be made to the Alaska Baptist Church Mission Fund. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 pm at Stroo Funeral Home and on Thursday from 10 to 11 am at the church prior to the funeral.
