Duane Door, lovingly known as Dewey, the Christ loving, beef cutting, mission devoted legend himself won the race home on Friday, October 25, 2019. He was welcomed with open arms by his parents Chet and Til Door and will bunk again with his brother Dennis until the rest of us get one of those big bear hugs. At 57 years old, Dewey’s impact here on Earth was as big and loving as he was. Until we meet again, he’ll be waiting at the table for his adoring wife of 35 years, Gina Door (Mutschler), children Brandi, Evan, Stacie, Brad, Darrin, Katlyn, Danny, Brittany, and a slew of beautiful grandchildren. His brothers and sisters in Honduras and Guatemala will greet him with love and a familiarity of his warm smile and giant heart that we all love. His incredible life’s story will be carried through the memories of his baby brother antics by Donna and Frank Ringewold, Linda and Del Meyer, JoAnn and Duane Terpstra, Bonnie and Keith Vrieswyk, Jack and Sharon (Kathy) Door, Sandy and George Sorenson, and Pat and Dan Andrakowicz. He was also welcomed and loved by Gene and Mary Mutschler and his brother-in-law Steve. Visitation will be Monday, October 28, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Stroo Funeral Home. 1095 68th St. SE, Grand Rapids MI 49508. Funeral Service will be 11am at Moline CRC, 4341 Chappell St., Moline, MI. In lieu of flowers, please donate through Stroo Funeral Home, to the Love the Child orphanage in Guatemala.

Gina and family,
I will keep you and your family in my prayers. It is so hard to lose anyone, especially your spouse. Remembering you and knowing your family, I'm sure he was a wonderful man, husband, and father.
My deepest sympathy, Gina.

Gina and Family,

So sorry to hear the news. My condolences. The description of Duey summed up everything. Heaven has received a great man, and while these years may tarry, may they tarry with fond memories until you meet Duey again. Love, David

Knew Duane many years as a man, devoted family and Husband. Duane also served on the Leighton Fire Department as a firefighter and served strong and proud! RIP until we meet again. Fire Chief Paul Baker, Retired.

What a wonderful description of this man!
Duane emanated love from every pore of his being!
He was one of those “larger than life” individuals, and will be missed by more people than we’ve probably ever met! What a wonderful meeting I imagine he had with Jesus as he heard “WELL DONE!”
You will remain constantly in our prayers!
Our deepest love and sympathy.
Dale and Sue
