On Monday, September 30, 2019, Wayne Peter Vander Wal, age 68, of Byron Center, entered into the arms of Jesus after living with Parkinson's for many years. Wayne retired from the City of Grand Rapids after 32 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his love of Westerns began at an early age.  He will be deeply missed by his wife of 39 years, Ruth (DeHaan); children, Paul (Julie) Vander Wal, Tami Vander Wal; grandchildren, Jenna Marie, Nixon Wayne, Jayce Peter; sisters and brothers, Pat (George) Nobel, Lavonne Smith, Louie (Jan) Vander Wal, Lois (Mike) Wise, Ruth Laman; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Robert (Dianne) DeHaan, Kathy (Russ) Romeyn; many nieces and nephews. The family will greet visitors on Wednesday, October 2, from 5 - 8 pm at Stroo Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, October 3 at Second Byron Center CRC, 7588 Byron Center Ave. SW with Rev. Adam Nordyke officiating. Interment will be in Boynton Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Wayne may be made to Anchor Point Christian School, 601 36th St. SW, Wyoming, MI 49509, or Parkinson's Foundation, 260 Jefferson Ave. SE, #210, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
