Joshua James Dryer, age 34, passed unexpectedly early Sunday morning, June 2, 2019 in Wyoming, Michigan.  He was preceded in death by his father, James Robert Dryer of Dorr, Michigan, who passed in May 2017

Born March 27, 1985, Joshua graduated from Thornapple Kellogg HS in Middleville, MI in 2003.  He went on to complete a 4 year degree in Media Production & New Technology with a minor in Communications from Northern Michigan University.  Josh (aka – Dr Metal) loved working/performing as the Metal Director at the university radio station.  Everyone who listened to Josh on the radio enjoyed his voice and wit. Friends & colleagues who knew Josh still reminisce about the expansive qualities of his voice and enormous knowledge of music. Josh thrived in his job at Gordon Food Services in Wyoming, MI, where he had many friends. With his passing, Joshua leaves behind lasting memories of a young man who had a kind, caring, and friendly nature toward anyone he encountered.

Josh is survived by his mother, Tracy Gene Dryer of Grand Rapids.  He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and very close friends.

A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at 11:00 AM, at Frontline Bible Church in Byron Center, MI.

Randy, Kevin and I were so sorry to hear of Josh's passing. Such a shock. You are in our prayers, Tracy. May God cover you with His peace, comfort and strength, and may Josh rest in peace.

Josh and I spent many hours talking music, movies, philosophy and whatever else happened by. He was always a bright spot in the dreary routine of retail. He is already missed.

I worked with Josh at Target, and trained with him in Judo for the few months when he would join us. He and I always had a lot to talk about since we had so much in common. Although it was during different years, we both went to the same university, studied the same major, and worked at the same radio station. It wasn't until years later we met and realized our common backgrounds. He was a fun guy to be around, and I was thinking about him last week; how we haven't been in touch in a while. I'll miss Josh, and I can only hope his family can find peace soon.

I knew Josh from work at Target , we worked together a few months before I quit. Even after I left, he would always come and say hi to me when I came shopping. He was such a friendly and amazing individual. I’m so sorry to hear of his passing. He was so friendly and eager to help anyone, I will miss him greatly.

As I take a deep breath and feel this news. I am beyond word sorry that Josh is gone from this world. Why do the best people leave us so young? I will keep Josh and His family in my heart.
