Douglas D. Barnhard, aka, Coach or Barney, age 61, of Wyoming, entered his heavenly home on Friday, May 3, 2019. Born on April 7, 1958 to Norman and Sylvia Barnhard in Grand Haven, MI. He graduated from Fruitport High School in 1976 and from Ferris State University with an associates degree in architectural design. All throughout his life Doug played sports. He loved to ride his motorcycle, fish, and camping. Doug had a passion for U of M sports. He also loved music, karaoke, line dancing, playing his harmonica anytime he had the chance, especially with sister, Mary & uncle Chuck. He was a electrical engineer at X-Rite Inc. for 35 years; were he developed many close friendships. He dedicated 19 years of his life with his unique gifts of mentoring and coaching approximately 6000 young men as a football coach at HPS. He loved, therefore he could coach. A great coach teaches you how to be a better man, while having passion for the game. He was always full of laughs, gave the best hugs, and was the life of the party. Doug and Wanda had many incredible experiences and enjoyed a lot of activities in their travels and vacations. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman; and son-in-law, Kevin Sikkema. Doug will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 19 years, Wanda; children, Amy Sikkema, Amanda Barnhard, Angela (Jose) Mora, Aleasha (Trevin) Wyma, Steven Christian, Rachel Christian; 11 grandchildren; mother, Sylvia Barnhard; brothers and sisters, Scott (Cheryl) Barnhard, Shelly (Dwight) Tobaison, Mary (Dave) Vaught, Dori (Denny) Shimer, Kathy (Scott) Gould, Val Barnhard; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Debbie (Ron) Glover, Nancy (John) Sanders, Scott Stark; many nieces and nephews; close friends and coworkers, Jay B., Chas N., Nathan C., Mike W., Tom B., Dwight L., Mark S., Denny J., Jo J., Arthur S.; and his beloved dog, Daystar. In Doug's own words "Win the day" knowing that Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior. The family will greet visitors on Wednesday, May 8, from 1:00 to 3:30 pm, at Ada Bible Church Knapp Street Campus, 3869 Knapp St. SE, where the service will be held 11:00 am Thursday, May 9; with Pastor Ben Vaught officiating.
