Loving husband, father and grandfather, Brian Allen Fojtik died on Sunday, October 21, 2018, after a short battle with cancer. Brian was born on August 11, 1961 in Toledo, Ohio. He grew up in Holland, MI, and graduated from Holland High School. He went to Michigan Technological University and graduated in 1983 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a proud member of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity at Michigan Tech, and remained active with them throughout his life. In 1984 he married the love of his life, Karen Marie Clapp. Together they had two wonderful sons. Brian worked as an engineer at several companies and spent most of his career at Amway Corp. Brian volunteered for the Cub Scouts, serving as Cubmaster, and the Boy Scouts, serving as Scoutmaster. He also served as president of the Men's Club at St. Mary Magdalen Church. Brian was a wonderful man. He treated everyone like family. He was always the first person to volunteer to help with any projects or programs, whether at church, at home, or at the home of one of his countless friends and relatives. He will be missed by many. Brian is survived by his wife of 34 years, Karen; sons, Matthew (Nora) and Andrew (Christine); grandsons, Aiden, Liam, Jacob, and Walter; parents, Rudolph and Marie Fojtik; siblings, Joseph (Madeleine) Fojtik, Pamela (Stephen) Strobel, Paulette (Perry) Szuminski; mother-in-law and father-in-law, John and Judith Clapp; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Cynthia (Ethan) Powsner, Russell (Greta) Clapp, Jennifer Clapp (Eric Helleiner); and many nieces and nephews. The family will greet visitors on Wednesday from 6 - 9 pm at Stroo Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Thursday, October 25, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 1253 52nd St. SE, with Fr. Phong Pham as celebrant. Interment in Blain Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity.

We were shocked to learn of Brian's illness just a few days before his passing. He was always such a nice man with a quick wit. Always willing to help people without a second thought. Unfortunately we were in Florida all last week and unable to attend his visitation or funeral. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family, friends, and anyone who knew him.

God Bless you!
Brian blessed us with his presence and loyalty.
When I would see him, now and then, he would ALWAYS bring up how he enjoyed an event, when my mother prepared a roast dinner for him and a friend that traveled a way to attend...and participate in... our local Polka Fest party. Though I would blush and not want him to repeat the story - it affected me and still does...
We will miss him.
Remember the Great things!

I was the HR recruiter who coordinated Brian’s hiring at Amway, and I am glad I did. He was a great employee and a a wonderful person. I really enjoyed working with Brian. He was well liked and highly respected. I am sorry to hear of his passing and extend my sympathies to his family.
