Lemke, Caroline
Kentwood, MI
On Sunday, August 12, 2018, our mother and grandmother, Caroline A. Lemke (Ferner), age 91, left this world to spend eternity with her Lord and the love of her life. She was born Caroline Agnes Ferner on December 2, 1926 to John and Caroline Ferner of Byron Center, MI, the youngest of 12 children. After her mother passed away, she was raised by her loving grandmother, Anna Vogt, who gave her a good strong faith in the Lord, that she cherished her entire life. She passed that faith on to her family. After WWII, Caroline met Harold Lemke who turned out to be the love of her life. It was a love that lasted after Harold's passing in 1997, thru her last day on this earth and it continues in heaven. Together they managed to keep their sanity while raising six children and keeping a loving and safe home. She was always there for her family and friends. Caroline enjoyed her time as a preschool teacher's aide at Kelloggsville West Elementary, and in later years working in the kitchen at Kelloggsville food service till her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going out to dinner and playing cards with her friends. Caroline is survived by and sadly missed by her six children and their spouses, Dennis (Dee) Lemke, Richard (Christine) Lemke, Bruce (Laurie) Lemke, Susan (Robert) Marsh, Brian Lemke, Beth (Wick) Fogg; along with 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Sunrise Senior Living of Cascade for the love and care given to mom right to the end. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 pm at Stroo Funeral Home, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:30 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 am Friday, August 17, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 1253 52nd St. SE, with Fr. Peter Vu as celebrant. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church.
