Percy was a regular attender at Calvary Church. He was proud to wear his military uniform, and represent his country. His pleasant smile and warm personality will be missed.

Staff Sergeant Percy VanderSlik was a very fine and professional US Army Soldier! And for the last many years his bright handsome smile, warm greeting and helpful guidance to all of us entering the Meijer store was inspiring too. We will sure miss him.

I was just a young Army Reserve Lieutenant and the Adjutant of the 394th Station Hospital here in Grand Rapids when I became friends with and was mentored by one of our best Medics - SSG VanderSlik. He was quite a strong contributor and always a friend to all as well. Together the 450+ Soldiers of this good unit did important, meaningful - many times tough and often enjoyable work in defense of our Great Nation. Percy was always there - at training drills in G.R. as well as A.T. at Army Hospitals across the country - important work, all of it. These Great Soldiers performed their duty so well. Competent readiness and dedication to serve the USA. All will miss him! Including his close friend COL Leon Blum.

I have known Percy for about ten years and he has always been a happy guy who spreads cheer to all he comes in contact. He will be missed.
