Kenneth D. Wenger, age 68, of Cutlerville, our dear husband, father, and grandfather, passed into the loving arms of Jesus surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 5, 2018.  Ken was a graduate of Caledonia High School and Michigan State University, where he earned an associates degree in ornamental horticulture.  He dutifully served his country in the U.S. Naval reserves and was deployed to Europe. For many years Ken worked in horticulture and landscape design and was a member of MNLA and GRNLA. For over 20 years, Ken served the Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park in various positions, eventually becoming the Vice President of Fixed Operations and Facilities where he managed and supervised all new construction and renovations for the facility. Ken loved his career with FMG and all of those he worked with. He took great pride and joy in his work and was passionate about the benefit that the gardens offered to those in the community. Ken was also a tireless servant and volunteer who worked with the CRC Cadet Corp as a counselor for over 34 years. Ken served as a deacon and elder for many years at Immanuel CRC in Kelloggsville, MI as well as on the board of The DOCK Ministry. Throughout his life, Ken held firm to his belief in God and love for his family. Ken was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Wenger, and his father-in-law, Jacob Hulst. Ken is survived by his loving wife, Patricia (Hulst) Wenger; and children, Amy and Peter Cerra, Craig Wenger, Michael Wenger, David and Jenny Wenger, Daniel Wenger, Sarah Wenger, Kimberly Wenger, Lisa and Jay Vonk, Jacqueline Wenger, Anna and Chris Jones; as well as his precious grandchildren, Trent, Annika, Elsa, and Eliza. He is also survived by his parents, Clifford and Grace Wenger; mother-in-law, Joanne Hulst-Borst; his brothers, Larry and Mary Wenger, and Tom and Paula Wenger, sister-in-law, Barb Wenger, brothers-in-law, Jack and Jo Hulst, Ron and Vonnie Hulst, Mark and Sandy Hulst, Doug and Cheryl Hulst; and many nieces and nephews. The family will greet visitors on Sunday, July 8, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm at Stroo Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11 am Monday, July 9, at First Cutlerville CRC, 1425 68th St. SW with Rev. David Adams and Rev. Doug Kamstra, officiating. There will be visitation prior from 10 – 10:45 am at the church. Interment will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.  In memorium, donations can be made to the Christian Reformed  Calvanist Cadet Corp or The DOCK Ministry.

So sad to hear about Ken's death tonight, too late to attend the visitation or funeral. Hugs to you Pat until we can visit soon.

I have know Ken for 20+ years. A business relationship that turned into a personal friendship. I have always had the highest respect for Ken and truly enjoyed our conversations about life, kids, fishing, hunting, retirement, and of course business. He always took time to visit with me over lunch or salmon fishing on Lake Michigan. Yet another special and great one gone too soon! We will see each other again someday my friend.

We knew Ken as a boss, co-worker and fellow sojourner. Most of all we loved him as a friend and will miss him sorely!
Rest In Peace, my friend! May you find for yourself the joy you passed on to others. You’ve left us far too early!

Ken was super busy and had a huge responsibility to expand Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park, 2018. Ken would be in the halls and at the volunteer award picnics and dinners. He took time to talk with
me, (9 year docent volunteer) and Caledonia friend:
Mike Bowman, Harris Creek Livestock. I already miss
him. He always connected urban and country in the best ways.

Ken was loved and admired by all who worked with him. He will truly be missed.
