Robert James Suttle, aged 71, of Cutlerville, known as Bob to those who knew him best, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018. He was born in Champaign, Illinois where he lived until after high school. Bob joined the Air Force in 1964 as a parachute packer before becoming a Meteorologist. He married Mary Lou (Olszak) of Davis, Michigan in 1965, They became the parents of the terrible T's, Tonya Jo, Theresa Michelle, Tracie Maureen, and Trina Louise. Having proudly served in the United States Air Force for 21 years, he retired as a Master Sergeant in 1984. The family settled in St. Johns, Michigan, where he worked as a Meteorological Technician for the National Weather Service. In 1998, they relocated to Grand Rapids, Michigan. Bob loved to play with his scroll saw, pets, and his word search puzzles. He became the grandfather to eight wonderful children. Bob is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; family, Tonya, Randy, Peyton, and Reagan Avery of Perrington, Michigan, Theresa and Wayne Cole of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Robert Jolly of St. Johns, Michigan; and Rachel Jolly of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Tracie Suttle of Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Trina, Kacey, Jayde, Victoria, and Hunter Gipson of Mesa, Arizona. He is also survived by brother, Tony and Mary Kay Suttle; and brother-in-law, Paul Gritten; many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. His parents, Robert and Mildred Suttle; and sister, Carolyn Gritten, preceded him in death. The family will greet visitors on Thursday, February 1, from 2:30 - 4:30 pm at Stroo Funeral Home, where the service will begin at 4:30 pm. Interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans Activities Fund.
