Lucio Sabas Farías, was born on Wednesday, August 24, 1938 in Las Cuevas, Argentina, and passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at his son’s home on Thursday, October 26, 2017 in Caledonia, Michigan, United States.
Lucio was a Grand Master in Martial Arts with a 10th Dan (highest degree achievable in most Martial Arts). In his 61 years of experience, he eagerly and passionately taught Martial Arts to thousands of students of all ages and levels around the world.
Lucio was also a talented Landscape Architect. His love for nature and plants will be forever treasured in the legacy of beautiful gardens, waterfalls, ponds and landscapes that he created, and the trees and flowers he planted throughout South America and the United States. He loved nature, and loved sharing his knowledge of scientific names of many plants and trees.
The one thing Lucio loved and cared above all was his family.
He saw many countries, he spoke several languages, he was an avid reader, constantly learning and loved to cook. He belonged to different martial arts associations and got countless awards and recognitions in his career. He lived a great life that spanned almost eight decades and that will go on through his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Gisela; his children: Lucio, Federico, Diego, Pablo, and Gisel; his grandchildren: Ivo, Michelle, Andrea, Andrés, Hendrick, Alessandra, Alan, Ian, and Fiona; his daughters in law: Maria, Martha, and Erin, his son in-law Jairo; his sister, Cristina; and by his many friends, and thousands of students around the world.
