 William John Reits, Jr., age 55, of Byron Center, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 1, 2017. Over the past years, Bill has coached the home school football team, was Director of Inner City Youth Outreach at Heritage Baptist Church and was Director of AWANA at Tabernacle Community Church. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 30 years, Nancy; his children, Chelsea Reits, Caleb Reits, Colby Reits, and Mo Harmsen (fiancee Jeff Rood), and Kyna Ewing, who became close as family; granddaughter, Haven Davis; mother, Cathy Reits; brother-in-law, Mark Mills; niece, Amanda (Randy) Mlejnek; and nephew, Jarrod (Michelle) Mills. Bill is preceded in death by his father, Bill Sr.; and sister, Debbie Mills. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 5, from 4 - 7 pm at Stroo Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held 1 pm Friday, October 6, at Tabernacle Community Church, 2530 Eastern Ave. SE, Grand Rapids, MI, with Pastor Artie Lindsay and Pastor Kizombo Kalumbula officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tabernacle Community Church Building Fund or Answers in Genesis, Petersburg, Kentucky.

Shocked to hear of my old friends passing. So many wonderful memories come flooding back. Perhaps most significant however was Bill's unwavering faith in God. I was inspired and encouraged by him more times than I can count. A man of principle and integrity who loved his family without condition. RIP my friend.

I am sorry for your family's loss. My boys were involved with basketball at the HSB in the early 2000's and I remember coming across your family several times. Bill always had a cheerful disposition and you all were always so friendly to everyone. I am sure he will be missed. Again, sorry for your loss.
