Josephine (Tuppin) Rae Hauschild passed away peacefully on September 8, 2018 after a three year battle with cancer.  Josephine was born in Mankato, MN on November 13, 1941.  She graduated from Macalester College, where she received a degree in Education.  She moved with her husband to Grand Rapids in 1964, and taught for three years at Grandville High School.  She then spent 20 years raising her five children and opening her home to many more.  She returned to teaching later and retired from Godfrey Lee High School.

She is survived by her husband, O.D. Hauschild; her five children and their spouses, Gretchen (John) Mousel, Johanna Kirkman, David Hauschild, Eun Ha (Tobias) Gurd, and Kurt (Joie) Hauschild; her five grandchildren, Katherine and Clarissa Mousel, Avari and Bailey Hauschild and Josie Kirkman.

Tuppin was active in Holy Cross Episcopal Church, and enjoyed her garden and traveling.

A memorial service will be held at Holy Cross Episcopal Church (4252 Breton Rd. SE) on Saturday, September 15 at 11:00 am.  There will be a visitation at Stroo Funeral Home (1095 68th Street SE) from 6 - 8 pm on Friday, September 14, and at the church before the service from 10 - 11 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Holy Cross Episcopal Church or Three Mariposas Montessori School in the Dominican Republic, a place that was close to Tuppin’s heart.
